Myanmar Frangipani Travels and Tours Co. Ltd. is a private company located in Yangon. We hold the Tourism License No. Kha-0965 issued by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism. My name is U Min Lwin Oo (called Min Min) and I am the owner and Managing Director of the company.
My associates and I have been in the tourism industry for a decade. We have worked with tour groups, individual and business travelers. We have accompanied professional photographers, film crews and researchers through Myanmar. Upon request, we can send you references that we have received from our clients. Many of our clients have used our services repeatedly or annually.
Our services include sightseeing, accommodation, restaurants arrangement, guide services, shopping tours, excursions into border areas, expeditions into wildlife areas and to little known islands. We also provide any kind of transportation. We can even charter boats or railway carriages for you, so that you can enjoy your journey from your own boat or Pullman railway carriage. We also work in another field that is closely connected to tourism: the export of antiques, handicraft and souvenirs. We handle all the necessary procedures including shipping. We have clients in the US, in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Japan and Indonesia. We also accompany foreign buyers on their purchasing trips.
On a non-commercial basis we support four orphanages in Myanmar, one near Yangon (Taikkyi), two in Mandalay and one in Mawlamyine. Together with our foreign friends we support 1.200 girls and boys. U Min Lwin Oo (Min Min) is the official and uncompensated representative for Myanmar of three foreign charitable organizations: the Verein für Internationale Solidaritaet e.V. (VIS), from Germany, the Children Support Initiative (CSI) from the United States, and a support group called Spirit of Asia from Germany. Introduction Myanmar

Myanmar, also known as the Golden Land, is one of the few countries in the world offering a truly original travel experience.
It is a captivating travel destination for its diversity of sightseeing, for its wealth of cultural and scenic attractions and for the warmth and friendliness of its charming people.
Myanmar is the largest country in the Southeast Asian Peninsula sharing borders with Bangladesh, India, China, Laos and Thailand. With a land area of 676, 577 sq. km. it is about the size of the United Kingdom and France combined.A land of great geographical diversity, its scenery ranges from the snow-capped mountains of the north, the vast central plains, the fertile paddy fields of the south, the cool and verdant hills of the Shan State and the long coastline of golden beaches. The majestic Ayeyarwady River flowing south from the mountains of the north is a source of agricultural wealth to millions before emptying itself into the sea. Blessed with abundant natural resources, it is potentially one of the richest economies in the region.
With a population of nearly 50 million, Myanmar is a union of many different ethnic groups, 135 of them, each with its own language, traditions and attire. The majority, about 68% of the population, are Burmans, with the other major groups including Karens, Chins, Kachins, Shans, Kayahs, Mons and Rakhines.
Although lying between two great civilizations, India and China, Myanmar has developed its own distinctive culture. Buddhism has a great influence on its people.
Early civilization of Myanmar dates back to the 1st century with archeological evidence of the Pyu Kingdoms of Sri Ksetra, Beithano and Hanlin. The First Myanmar Empire with Bagan as its capital was founded by King Anawrahta in the 11th century. He unified the country through leadership and intellect. The Empire lasted until the Mongol invasion in the 13th century. The Second Myanmar Empire with Bago as its capital was founded by King Bayinnaung in the mid-16th century. The Third Myanmar Empire was founded by King Alaungpaya in 1752. In the 19th century, Myanmar was annexed in three stages by the British after three Anglo-Myanmar wars in 1825, 1852 and 1885. During the Second World War, Myanmar was occupied by the Japanese for three years until the Allied Forces reoccupation in 1945. Myanmar became a sovereign independent state on January 4, 1948.
With its historical significance, rich cultural heritage, diversity of physical features and natural beauty, Myanmar offers a visitor much to discover and experience which certainly will be truly memorable.

General Information

Climate of Myanmar

Located in the tropics, Myanmar's climate is tropical with three general seasons:

1. Rainy season is during the southwest monsoon period from mid-May to mid-October with average temperatures from 25 to 30 C. Although it rains in Yangon and Lower Myanmar, there is hardly any rain in Mandalay, Bagan and the Inle Lake areas as they are in the dry zone. Travel to these to these places is quite enjoyable.

2. The cool season (Winter) is from mid-October to mid-February with temperature ranging from 20 to 24 C. This is the best season to travel in this country. However, in some regions in Upper Myanmar, in southern and eastern Shan State temperatures can be as low as 5 to 10 C. Warm clothes are advisable.

3. The hot season (summer) is from mid-February to mid-May when temperatures range from 30 to 35 C.

Travel Documents

Valid passport with entry visa is required for all travelers. Foreign Independent Traveler (FIT) Visa and Package Tour Visa can be obtained at any Myanmar Embassy or Consulate abroad.

Health

If traveler is not coming from an infected area, no vaccination certificate is required.

Customs

All foreign currencies (above $2000), jewelries, electrical goods and cameras must be declared to the Myanmar Customs on arrival. Export of Myanmar antiques is totally prohibited. Only gems and jewelries purchased from licensed dealers who can issue export permit are allowed to be taken out of the country. Travelers may bring in duty free 200 cigarettes, two bottles of liquor and one pint bottle of perfume. Mobile phones have to be handed to the Customs on arrival and reclaimed on departure. Laptop computers for the traveler's own use may be brought in freely.

Souvenirs

Myanmar handicraft items are among the best souvenirs and their prices are very reasonable. Lacquerware, wood and ivory carvings, tapestries, silverware, brassware, silk and cotton fabrics and shoulder bags are some of the favorite items.

Some Useful Advice

Light clothing is required all year round, but a sweater or a jacket may be needed when traveling in the mountain areas especially during the winter months.

Shoes and socks must be removed at pagodas and monasteries so it is advisable to bring a pair of slippers.

Travelers should keep away from touts who may approach them to exchange foreign currency and sell gems of dubious quality.
